Beyond Research

Ballroom and Latin Dance

Beyond research, I train and compete with the MIT Ballroom Dance Team. Ballroom and Latin dance are a central part of my life at MIT rather than simply an activity outside my academic work.

Dance offers a different kind of challenge from research. Progress is visible in small changes to movement, timing, and connection with a partner. It requires sustained practice and a willingness to remain a beginner, even as one improves. I value that process as much as competition itself.

The team has also given me a community at MIT. As Publicity Coordinator, I help communicate what the team does and introduce new dancers to ballroom. Some of my most meaningful experiences have come from training alongside teammates and helping others take their first steps into the community.
